Having sagging or irregularly shaped labia is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, many women will experience some degree of sagging or stretching in these tissues at some point in their lives. However, this doesn’t change the fact that sagging or overly large labia can cause significant emotional and physical discomfort.
Labia Minora Plasty also known as labia reduction or vaginal rejuvenation is an aesthetic procedure which involves the removal of unwanted tissue of the smaller inner vaginal lips to restore a more normal or symmetrical appearance and alleviate discomfort associated with large or sagging labia. Patients seeking labiaplasty surgery understand first-hand how childbearing, aging, and genetics can affect the condition of the labia and vaginal tissues.
Dr. Rieger’s priority is helping patients feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance, and he has helped women of all ages and stages of life improve their quality of life with labiaplasty.
Who is a Candidate for Labiaplasty Surgery?
The ideal candidate for a labiaplasty is a woman with enlarged, bothersome labia majora or labia minora. Patients undergoing labiaplasty should not be pregnant or feel pressured by their spouse or partner.
Who is Not a Candidate?
Women with complex medical problems and/or current sexually transmitted diseases or urinary tract infections should not undergo a labiaplasty surgery. Prior to cosmetic surgery of the labia, all medical problems should be well controlled and any infections should be appropriately treated. Women who have recently had a child should also wait at least 9 to 12 months postpartum before considering labiaplasty, vaginal rejuvenation, or other cosmetic surgery of the external genitalia. During this time, the engorged and swollen labia will continue to shrink and decrease in size.
